Welcome To Lily Beau.co...

I would probably say my parents are the reason I love music, with my father's undying love for vinyl and my mother's constant belting in the shower, it was inevitable that I would follow in their footsteps.

At the age of 11, my parents bought me my first instrument, a Yamaha 61 key, keyboard. I can honestly say its sole purpose was to collect dust for a whole year. Finally, with the encouragement of my first piano teacher, I wrote my first song, a song declaring my deepest wishes, and proudly confessing my love for Daniel Radcliffe.

Despite my ridiculous scenarios and lyrics I continued to write, perform and now I am studying at ELAM, East London Arts and Music.

Gigging has become ritual and songwriting has become a pastime; I cannot imagine doing anything else. The experiences and confidence that London has given me have been invaluable and I am so excited and enthusiastic to start sharing some new music. London is where I am but Cardiff will always be my home.

I cannot write a short introduction about myself without mentioning my influences. I adore Melody Gardot, her vocals and melodies inspire me and move me. I can't not mention Beyonce, shamelessly. My taste in music varies, whether I'm in the mood for jazz, your cheesy pop or even country.

I've listed a bunch of musicians who have been successful in their careers, but my true inspirations are my friends and peers who work so hard to achieve their goals. I am proud of them all and hope I can be a part of their journey.

- My Year In Photos -

2016 hasn’t been all bad…

My initially turbulent relationship with London has provided me with a new home, new friends and new opportunities that I am forever grateful for; new experiences that have helped me to grow and develop, both personally and musically. I have performed on some incredible platforms including opening the mainstage at Lovebox last Summer. And more incredibly, I have managed to successfully assemble and disassemble three Ikea beds which proved rather difficult and damaging to the relationships of those involved in the process’.

I’ve had a crazy year. Moving from home was a seriously daunting experience and on reflection, I may have done it prematurely but I do not for a second regret all that I have achieved in such a short period of time. My year has been filled with ups and downs but I am so grateful to everyone who has been there with me along the way. Many of my achievements have been as a result of the support and encouragement that I have received from friends, family and tutors.

With my two years at ELAM coming to a swift end and the realisation that I now need to be prepared and somewhat grown-up, there are some things I need to sort out. I moved out almost two years ago and I still don’t quite know how my gas and electricity works. And, I don’t think that Pasta and Broccoli is a sustainable and varied diet, I may venture out and buy myself a cookbook.

I know people can often be quite pessimistic in regards to resolutions but I like to set myself goals for the new year. I’m currently recording a new EP, working to release it mid 2017 and cannot wait to share it with you.

Let's hope the next year beats the last...
